The most frequently asked question to answer when planning on laying new turf is 'how many rolls do I need?' In this blog, we will talk you through each step to achieve that perfect lawn!
In our garden centres we now stock rolls of turf by Harrowden Turf Ltd. This supplier has been established for over 20 years and only supplies the very best quality of rolled grass! Each roll measures approximately 610mm wide by 1640mm long (roughly 2ft wide by 5.3ft long)
£3.49 per square meter
It's important to note that not all suppliers use the same dimensions and it is essential to check the measurements of turf before calculating the area needed.
To work out how many rolls of turf to order, you first need to calculate the area to be turfed. Then you need to convert that into rolls.
Measure the length and width of the area to be turfed. If it’s a circular area, measure at the widest point of the circle.
Measure in metres if you can – it saves having to convert from imperial to metric later on. Every sum is an opportunity to make a mistake. So the fewer the calculations you need to make the less there will be!
Take a look at our turf calculator below to determine the number of rolls you’ll need. It covers all shapes and sizes, from round to edges to straight and sharp.
Remember to always double check your calculations and to work in meters, this way you can convert the measurements into square meters!
