August is here and so are the school holidays, get the kids to help you out in the garden this month with these jobs. Don’t forget the sun cream!
• Remove dead flowers from all bedding plants
• Tidy ponds and remove duckweed
• Trim hedges
• Start applying autumn lawn feed
• Plant spring-flowering bulbs such as daffodils and tulips
• Push straw or tiles under ripening pumpkins • Harvest early fruiting apples and pears
• Harvest runner beans daily and freeze any surplus
